LES GÉOMÈTRES is the first work for the stage by the young artist duo Hippolyte Hentgen. Nurtured by their constant work as visual artists, the performance explores a region between theater, choreography, performance art, and exhibition. In a wordless course of events, which is reminiscent of the greats in burlesque, they portray the transition from two to three dimensions, from rigidity to movement, from abstraction to the figurative.

+Biography

Hippolyte Hentgen is a visual artists duet made of Gaëlle Hippolyte (* 1977) and Lina Hentgen  (* 1980). They live and work in Paris. Their work exists through a frenzied, explosed practice of drawing and volumes. With scupltures, installations, works on paper, wood or fabric, Hippolyte Hentgen enjoy themselves by multiplying thetracks of a clearly claimed artistic inheritage. Thus, they do not hide their admiration for Jim Shaw, aswell as for Öyvind Fahlström, Philip Guston, or Ernest T.'s painting, sculptural work by Richard

Artschwager or Paul Thek, August Blanqui's writing. Far from leading them to stylistic parodies, thisadmiration is the engine of a common insubordination to austerity and consensus. Their work has been particularely noticed at Parvis, Centre d'Art Contemporain (Tarbes), Musée des Abattoirs (Toulouse), Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain (Paris) or Le Tripode (Rezé). LES GÉOMÈTRES will be their first creation for the stage.
