In GURUGURU the audience are their own performers: five people gather in a room and are given a name and a set of headphones. They sit around a monitor, and a barely comprehensible persona – a guru? – appears on the monitor and talks to them. The task given to the audience-performers is easy: simply follow the guru's instructions. In GURUGURU Ant Hampton establishes a situation between market research and a self-help group. The responsibility for one's own actions is outsourced to the omniscient guru. But at which point should we stop trusting him?
