The Belarusian politician and poet Vladimir Neklyaev was a candidate for president in December 2010 in his homeland. On the day of the controversial election, after a protest march by the opposition Neklyaev was beaten and severely injured by security forces working for the incumbent president, Alexander Lukaschenko. Later on, an "undefined group of men dressed in black" kidnapped him and removed him from the hospital. He was held captive at an unknown location; in the end he was released for medical reasons and placed under house arrest, guarded by two KGB agents. For Two in your House Teatr.doc plans to conduct interviews with Vladimir Neklyaev, his wife Olga, and the guards. A documentary theater piece will evolve based on these conversations.
In Russian language with German subtitels.

+BiographyThe documentary plays’ theatre – Teatr.doc - was established in 2002 in Moscow by group of playwrights. It is a non-governmental, non-profit, independent theatre.
The majority of Teatr.doc productions are of documentary theatre genre, which is based on authentic texts, interviews, and real life stories. This genre exists at the intersection of art and social analysis. Theatre creative groups touch the most important and burning issues of the reality, using eyewitness testimonies, verbatim technology, «deep improvisation», diverse theatre games and trainings. Some of the most important and also published productions are ISKUSSTVO KINO (THE WAR OF MOLDOVANS FOR A CARDBOARD BOX) based on real criminal story and OTECHESTVENNYE ZAPISKI (THE HOMELESS). Both pieces question marginal people, immigrants and homeless people that try to survive in Moscow. The Recent premiere - documentary production called 1 HOUR 18 MINUTES - is based on the letters of Sergei Magnitsky, a lawyer, who died in prison while being prosecuted. It received numerous press responses and provoked passionate debate in the blogosphere. The theatre produced 1 HOUR 18 MINUTES on its own account and artists keep performing on a voluntary basis. |
