Juha Valkeapää (* 1967) is a vocal and performance artist, using his voice as his main tool. Since 1993, he has made six hundred performances of one hundred and thirty different works in twenty-four countries, solos and various group works, vocal & sound & performance art, theatre, music, dance. Plus sound installations, soundscapes and compositions for exhibitions and radio. Juha Valkeapää likes biking in snow, because it's hard and bikes are beautiful. He is based in Helsinki, Finland.
Taito Hoffrén (* 1974) is a musician, sound designer and publisher of non-commercial (ethno) music. His main instruments are voice, especially rune-singing, and tuba. He has composed music and designed sound for several theatre and dance productions. Currently he's writing his doctoral thesis for the Folk Music Department of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Taito Hoffrén likes cars he can repair by himself. He is based in Kantele, Finland.
Juha Valkeapää and Taito Hoffrén met at a throat-singing workshop in the mid-90's. In 1997-99 they made live soundscape for a Q-teatteri production KALEVALA. In 1999-2002 they were members of Voice Theatre Iki-Turso, creating a few vocal works and touring Finland, Ukraine and Egypt. In 2006 Juha directed MALE SPACES, a piece of vocal improvisation, for Taito's a cappella quartet Äijä.
